What happens when you cross meticulous historical research with an author who dictates her books scene by scene? In this episode, we sit down with Danielle Grandinetti, author of the Di Stasio Giornaliste Agency series, to find out.
Danielle takes us inside her process as a self-described “immersive writer,” walking through the dictation workflow she’s built to get stories out of her head and onto the page as fast as she can tell them — and why she believes that process is really a return to the ancient tradition of oral storytelling, not a shortcut around it.

Her current release, Eyewitness Sketch, follows Gabby, a sketch artist covering the Prohibition era on the islands of Door County, Wisconsin, and Andre Johansson, whose Icelandic heritage reflects the real Scandinavian settlement history of the region. Danielle shares how Gabby’s experience as an Italian woman in a Norse community draws on her own family’s immigration story — and how the 1930s’ rollback of women’s workplace gains shapes every step of Gabby’s fight to be taken seriously.
